Is Artificial Intelligence the End of Copyrights?

Artificial intelligence is constantly growing and, in particular, ChatGPT is becoming increasingly important. However, the question arises: is artificial intelligence the end of copyright?

Natalia Martos Díaz, CEO and founder of Legal Army answers this question in The Economist. According to Natalia, the problem lies in the fact that if OpenAI had asked authors for the necessary permissions to use their content for AI training, the development processes of this technology could have slowed down for years.

Martos points out that it should be Assess the permit exemption (understanding that it falls within the training field) or impose payment for the use of materials for AI training, although he emphasizes that this option would be an impediment to the rapid development of this technology.

For her, the most coherent thing would be create from scratch a new specific regulation for the use of AI training materials that allows these contents to be used with the consent of the rights holders.
